Up in arms about logo

Letters

Why does the Institution have to discard a well-designed logo (coat of arms) in favour of something brash and simple (NCE 20 Jan)?

If the full coats of arms is deemed too complex for some applications, why not use small elements? The shield alone, for example.

If the Institution really wants something else, then please go to the College of Arms, which designs simpler badges as well as coats of arms and has 700 years of experience in doing so in a memorable and easily distinguishable manner.
