Underpinning specialists appoint Ifor Roberts as new chairman

Ifor Roberts has taken up the chairmanship of ASUCplus for the coming two years 2009-2010, following David Gakhar who finished his term in office at the end of 2008.

Roberts has been active within the association’s executive committee since joining in 1994.

Before his election as vice-chairman in 2006, he served as membership secretary and prior to that was chairman for four years of the Health and Safety sub-committee and was responsible for the production of the Guidelines for Safe and Efficient Underpinning and Mini Piling Operations.

Educated in North Wales, graduating in 1974 with a BSc(Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Wales at Swansea, Roberts joined Cementation Specialist Holdings on their graduate trainee scheme and subsequently joined the piling and foundations [division], having also qualified as a chartered engineer.

He has worked continuously in this specialist sector and set up his Watford based company, Falcon Structural Repairs Limited, in 1986

Roberts said: "I am confident that ASUCplus can help its members through the challenging times ahead by demontrating that they provide a specialist service to customers that is second to none and is backed by the 12-year insurance guarantee."

Joining Roberts is Phil Jones as vice chairman. With over 25 years in the industry behind him, Jones is also a chartered engineer and a director of ASUCplus founder members Abbey Pynford.
