Underground staions to get more than a lick of paint

Tube Lines, the company responsible for rebuilding the Tube's busiest lines, is overhauling Belsize Park, Hampstead, Archway, Bounds Green and Cockfosters stations as part of its station upgrade programme for 2006-7.
Work will ensure that the stations are safer for passengers and staff and will result in the provision of better information for people using it.The upgrades include installing more information via new train indicator displays on each platform and new electronic information panels in ticket halls. For increased passenger safety and security the stations will be equipped with new CCTV suites with full DVD digital recording facility. Feeds will come from about 50 cameras at Archway, 70 at Belsize Park, 90 at Hampstead, 23 cameras at Bounds Green and 46 at Cockfosters.
