Unclear power

As suggested (NCE last week), I have read the report on nuclear power of the Sustainable Development Commission. No one would dispute its conclusion that 'nuclear cannot tackle climate change alone'.

However it fails to offer any evidence at all for its assumption that it is possible to meet our energy needs without nuclear power. Surely this assumption requires an analysis of the risks arising from undue dependence on imported gas and oil?

It is unworthy of NCE to suggest that those of us who do not share your views are unduly influenced by the nuclear construction industry.

But we do believe it is essential to this country's future.
