Two thirds of public support A6 Manchester Airport Relief Road

Stockport Council, Cheshire East and Manchester City councils today revealed that 69% of respondents to the A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road first consultation are in favour of the project.

Of the 8,737 responses to the questionnaire, along with responses at exhibitions, 13% were against the project and 18% were neutral.

The second consultation phase is scheduled for spring this year, which will seek views on preferred schemes. Feedback from the first consultation will also be published around this time.

A planning application is to be submitted in summer of this year. If it is accepted construction will take place between 2014 and 2017.
