Two rail workers dead

Two rail workers died after they were hit by a road-rail wagon in the early hours of Tuesday morning. RMT union leaders repeated their call for an inquiry into safety on the railways after the accident, which happened between Hednesford and Cannock in Staffordshire. A British Transport Police spokesman said the two VG Clements employees involved in track renewal stepped off a train carrying rails into the path of the wagon.
