Two or more people lanes to be used on UK motorways

High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes reserved for vehicles carrying two or more people are to be used on UK motorways for the first time, the Department for Transport said this week. New lanes planned for the M62 between junctions 25 and 27 and the M1 between junctions seven and 13 have been earmarked for HOVs, along with the hard shoulder of the M3 between junctions two and three and the existing fast lane of the M61 between junctions three and six.
