Two bids have been submitted for the construction of Italy's Messina Bridge, government client Stretto di Messina has confirmed. The two competing consortia are headed by Italian firms Astaldi and Impregilo. Stretto di Messina has appointed an independent judging panel to evaluate the bids. A winner is expected to be announced in late July or early August, said a spokeswoman. The client is to advertise for an environmental supervisor to oversee construction later this month.
