Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) contractors were this week continuing preparations to dig a 600m new twin bore tunnel in central London that will eventually carry Thameslink trains north of King's Cross. Main contractor Kier/Edmund Nuttall has already built the tunnel boring machine (TBM) launch pit on the King's Cross railway lands as part of Contract 103.
