TRL wins sustainable materials work in Qatar

Research firm TRL is to look at the innovative use of recycled and secondary aggregate materials in construction in Qatar, the firm announced this week.

The research is to tackle the shortage of raw materials in the country. The Qatar construction industry is mostly reliant on imported materials with less control over quality and prices, but Qatar is currently experiencing rapid development of its infrastructure, requiring a sustainable supply of construction materials.

The three year project will be funded by the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) and Qatar Foundation, as part of the National Priority Research Programme (NPRP).

TRL, which is based in Berkshire, will be working in collaboration with Qatar Standards and support partners Qatar University and local aggregate supplier Qatar Construction & Development Company.
