Travis Perkins boosts profits

Builders merchant Travis Perkins has posted a 10 per cent hike in adjusted operating profits.

The firm recorded earnings of £150.8 million before deduction of interest, tax and amortization, and before profits on property, in the six months to 30 June 2012.

This was up from £137.5m in the same period a year earlier.

Group revenue grew 2.7 per cent to £2.412 billion, although this was down 0.7 per cent on a like-for-like basis.

Chief executive Geoff Cooper said the firm had improved market share and increased its margin but been hit by the very wet weather in April and June.
