Travel award deadline

DEADLINE FOR entries for the annual John Mitchell Award is 30 July.

The purpose of the award is to enable a young geotechnical engineer to develop knowledge and experience in the fields of geotechnical or geo-environmental engineering and to gain an appreciation of the advantages of learning from other cultures. Up to £3,000 is available to the winner to travel in pursuit of these objectives.

The John Mitchell Memorial Trust was established in memory of Ove Arup's John Mitchell, who died in a tragic accident in 1990 while undertaking research into pile construction.

Candidates, who must be under 35 years old, should send a travel proposal outlining where they want to go, what they want to see and why, together
