Trapped wind


Given that one of the main drawbacks of using wind turbines to generate electricity is their variable output, I'm surprised that pumped storage facilities such as Dinorwic are not being more widely promoted.

Perhaps we could even combine the concept with the proposed national water grid (NCE 30 March), using holding tanks on the crest points of the pipeline(s) between the north west and south east of the country David Coles (M), coles2@tiscali. co. uk
