Transport plans get on the road

LOCAL AUTHORITY consultants and employees will be given a welcome insight into the implications of the transport White Paper at a half day meeting at the Institution on 18 August.

Integrated Transport White Paper in Practice kicks off a series of free open forums at the ICE on how local authorities can start to practically apply the White Paper.

'We hope to gather together some of the key people who have influenced the contents of the White Paper, such as director of Transport 2000 Stephen Joseph, to offer best advice to local authority consultants and employees,' said ICE's Robert Huxford. The White Paper will come up for discussion in local authority committees in September.

Huxford identified funding as a key issue. 'We will be looking into how local authorities can go about putting work place charging into place.'
