Training takes new direction

RECENTLY APPOINTED or aspiring directors in the engineering sector are to be offered dedicated training by Thomas Telford Ltd for the first time.

The Director Development Programme was developed in partnership with Urwick Management Consultants which ran a similar course in the 1980s.

The first twice yearly course starts on 28 January, focusing on financial analysis, corporate strategy, business planning, marketing, customer orientation, people issues and organisational competence.

'TTL provides member services but our training is currently limited to the pre-CPR market which is not satisfactory,' said general manager of Thomas Telford Training John Whitely.

'We need to be more competitive in senior management training. We will pitch in with some of the really big hitters and hopefully we can win.'

The two week residential course at Woodland Grange near Leamington Spa costs 3,950.
