Specialist consultancy RSIS claims it is possible to turn a dyed in the wool roads contract manager into a productive railway manager within a year.
The company's nine full time trainers focus on the requirements of the railway sector and can supply courses in railway civil engineering, permanent way engineering, signalling, telecommunications, electrification and building and construction.
According to RSIS business development manager Malcolm Ridley, the trainers have all gained their knowledge and experience through working in various British Rail engineering organisations and possess recognised assessor qualifications.
Track safety training is big business for the company and company provides training in accordance with Railtrack Group Standards for all levels. First aid, drugs and alcohol awareness courses are also available.
'We work with companies to help them set up safety management systems and audits. We can also help with the Rail Safety Case. And we have enabled quite a few firms to win large chunks of Railtrack work,' Ridley says.
