TIF Funding fontrunners named

Transport Secretary Doug Alexander this week highlighted several schemes favoured for funding from the Transport Innovation Fund.
He also rejected three road upgrade schemes the A1, M1 and M11 saying that the proposals for the schemes were not clear. He also said that the A14 Ellington to Fen Ditton scheme would be subject to further consultation.Rail and road schemes were on Alexander's TIF list and include freight enhancements and road upgrades.Successful rail freight schemes include Olive Mount Chord including Chat Moss (Liverpool), Humber Ports/Immingham tail capacity enhancements, Peterborough to Nuneaton capacity enhancements, Southampton to Birmingham gauge improvements and similar work on the Gospel Oak to Barking scheme.TIF funding is also still being considered for traffic management imporvements on the Birmingham motorway box, the M62 and the A14.
