Some 75% of civil engineers say their companies are now ‘embracing BIM’, according to a live survey carried out in NCE’s latest webinar. Watch it on demand now.
The webinar, organised by NCE and sponsored by Autodesk, examined how the infrastructure supply chain is preparing for BIM Level 2. Speakers included Atkins director and ICE BIM Action Group chair Anne Kemp and MGF engineering director Steve Hesketh.
Just over half (52%) of the 220 respondents to the survey said they had “an understanding” of Level 2.
But only 40% said they had read PAS1192-2, which specifies the requirements to achieve BIM Maturity Level 2.

Kemp told the webinar audience that the ICE was currently running another ‘heat map’ survey into BIM attitudes, which can be accessed for a further two weeks. The results of the previous survey were published a year ago.
BIM is a structured process of managing information before, during and after the construction of built assets.
Outputs can be computer-generated models connecting all graphical and tabular information about the design, construction and operation of the assets.
The system can lead to significant efficiencies and improved delivery in construction and whole-life maintenance.
