This week's letters Writing on the wall

When I was at University, a common piece of graffiti on the lavatory walls read: 'Six munfs ago I cudnt spel enjinear, now I ar one'.

Twenty odd years ago, the supposed illiteracy of engineers was a popular joke, but now, endorsed by the President, it is no longer funny. The proposal not to mark down CPR essays for poor grammar, spelling and syntax is simply wrong. I urge anyone who can string a few coherent sentences together to join me in saying so.
