This week's letters East Midlands budget beef


I am reluctant to engage in debate via your pages, but to ensure transparency to members in the East Midlands, I must respond to Mike Casebourne's message regarding LA budgets. The 1999 grant to the East Midlands LA was £27,511. The 2000 grant for expenditure is £26,511 although the actual grant allocation is £23,511, with an assumption that £3,000 should be taken from local reserves.

This is not consistent with Mike Casebourne's assertion that 'no LA has been budgeted less expenditure in 2000 than in 1999'.
