The new Country Representative for Egypt is Dr Gamal Abu-Taleb, who runs a Cairo-based soil engineering and foundation consultancy. Dr Abu-Taleb graduated from Cairo's Ain-Shams University in 1965, and subsequently obtained a master's degree and PhD in geotechnical engineering from the University of Sheffield. He became a freelance consultant in 1991, operating throughout Africa and the Middle East, and set up Abu-Taleb Engineering Consultants and Soil Investigation last year. Dr Abu-Taleb says he hopes for a 'fruitful co-operation for the advancement of our Institution in Egypt'. He may be contacted on (Cairo) 4037106. Fax 2753227
