The judging begins Ground Engineering Awards – The judges preside

The deadline was just a few days away as GE went to press and the post-room was groaning (as were the post-room staff) under the weight of entries.

The serious work of judging must now begin.

With the panel ready to view the best that geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering has to offer, it is an exciting time to be involved with this inaugural event.

The choice of the premier five-star Royal Garden Hotel in west London reflects GE's aim that this will be the geotechnical awards and an event worth attending regardless of whether your firm has submitted an entry this year.

Below are 15 reasons why your company should be represented at the capital's West End event.

Make it a double event and attend the optional Piling and Foundations 2008 one-and-a-half-day conference on 14-15 February 2008 at the Earls Court Conference Centre.

Provide clients with independent evidence that you are good to do business with.

Be part of a premiere geotechnical/geoenvironmental awards event.

Grasp the opportunity to see your firm lead the field.

Meet new clients from a cross-industry audience.

Show off all that's great about your firm.

Celebrate the work of your young engineers – and attract more in the process.

Network with captains of geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering.

Help turn the spotlight on to your industry ahead of major UK projects such as Crossrail and the Olympics.

Learn about the latest innovative and cutting edge techniques.

Your competitors will be there – can you afford not to be?

It's in the heart of London and easy to get to.

Move your meeting to Kensington. Make it either before or after the Awards – or arrange something with one of the other firms attending.

Visit nearby Knightsbridge and shop away those post-Christmas blues.

Meet the GE team and come armed with ideas, exclusives, plans for site visits and scurrilous industry rumour!
