News stand - What the papers say

Work on a new bypass in County Monaghan was delayed for three days last week while workers waited for eggs to hatch in a bird's nest discovered on a bank of the Longfield River near to the bypass's northern interchange. Mother water hen and her new chicks were later moved downstream. Contractor Jons Moneley said it estimated the delay cost a 'considerable sum'.
