News stand - What the papers say

Oliver Letwin, the shadow chancellor, has been secretly taped saying he will cut public spending by so much that it would be 'irrational' to reveal his true intentions to voters at a general election. Letwin implied his preference would be to cut government spending to 'shall we say 35% to 30% of gross domestic product', in the process cutting public spending by around £250bn.
