The Gallery | Hydro venue opens in Glasgow

A new £125M venue opened in Glasgow yesterday. The SSE Hydro was built on the site of the former Queen’s Dock and will host major music, entertainment and sporting events.

Client Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre appointed consultant Arup to provide civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, public health and fire engineering; as well as BREEAM assessor, transportation planning and specialist lighting services.

The SSE Hydro will be one of the major venues for The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games along with the £108M National Indoor Sports Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, both designed by Arup.
