The Gallery | Cranes in action on the Queensferry Crossing

These images show cranes in action on the £790M project to build the Quensferry Crossing in Edinburgh.

At least a dozen Liebherr cranes are being used every day on the mega scheme in the Firth of Forth.

Michael Martin, project director for main contractor Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors – a joint venture of Hochtief, Dragados, American Bridge International and Morrison Construction – earlier this year said 2015 was the project’s “busiest and most exciting construction year”.

The project, for Transport Scotland, began in early 2011 and is expected to be completed in 2016.
