The Department for Transport

The Department for Transport has denied reports that it is planning to put the M4 motorway into tunnel at Heathrow to allow the airport to build its proposed third runway.

A DfT spokeswoman confirmed there are issues surrounding air quality at Heathrow and said there is much work to be done if the proposed third runway is to meet 'stringent environmental limits' set in the Aviation White Paper.
