That's Andy

In his letter last week, Andy Allan says the design guides, which are on the SiD website at www. safetyindesign. org should be taken over by the Institutions.

In fact the design guides were started by letters from Health & Safety Executive to the presidents of the institutions, who in turn nominated their chosen experts.

Further, the Construction Industry Council is working on a joint project with SiD to set knowledge and competence benchmarks for designers.

Andy and I are working to help design practices understand how to deal with their liabilities through IStructE workshops and are both speaking at the NCE conference on 25 November.
