TfL shortlists five for bridge strengthening contract

Transport for London (TfL) has shortlisted contractors Balfour Beatty, Bam Nuttall, Costain, Hochtief and Skanska to work on its £200M Structures and Tunnels Investment Programme.

The programme includes strengthening, refurbishment and replacement of eight bridges and tunnels in London including the Hammersmith Flyover and a number of railway bridges.

Projects are divided into three packages based on location, type of work and value.

The programme will be considered publicly on 13 March 2013 but no timescale has been given on when the contract will be awarded.

Consultants Ramboll and Parsons Brinckerhoff was appointed consultants for the work in January.
