TfL appoints new managing director for surface transport

London’s transport commissioner Peter Hendy today announced that Leon Daniels will be the new Surface Transport managing director at Transport for London (TfL).

Daniels joins TfL from FirstGroup, where he is currently UK bus customer service and communications director. He will take up the post in late April and succeeds David Brown, who is leaving TfL at the end of March to become Go-Ahead Group chief executive.

“I’m delighted to welcome a transport professional of Leon’s quality and experience to the TfL leadership team.  Leon has extensive experience in the UK and overseas of delivering high quality public transport,” said Hendy.

“For the past 11 years he has been a UK bus board member of FirstGroup, which is the UK’s largest bus and rail operator.”
