Terminal decline

I note that BAA are proposing an 'upgrade' of terminals 1-3 in order to address the shortcomings at Heathrow.

This demonstrates a typical lack of foresight as a mere upgrade will not address the reasons why Britain's major airport is in such a mess.

May I suggest that the once in a lifetime opportunity - the opening of Terminal 5 - be used to undertake a phased demolition of the ant's nest that are terminals 1-3 and replace them with a single, state-of-the-art, integrated terminal that will provide real competition for Frankfurt, Charles de Gaulle and Schipol.
