Terminal 5 satellite makes progress with logistics award

Construction of T5c, the £300M satellite terminal for Heathrow airport’s Terminal 5 (T5), continued apace this week as Carillion awarded a £6M contract to Wilson James to provide logistical support and security for the project.

The third and largest of three satellite terminals for T5 to be built by 2012, T5c is a steel frame and composite slab structure comprising 51,000m2 of floor area over three levels above ground and three below ground.

The award of the onsite logistics job for Wilson James ties in with its existing role as BAA Construction Logistics Integrator for pan-airport off site logistics. All materials deliveries to the project are consolidated and managed through airport security requirements using the Colnbrook Logistics Centre, another Wilson James project.
