Teething problems with alarm and communication systems caused two closures on the A406 Fore Street tunnel within days of its opening a week ago. A micro switch had to be adjusted after alarms were triggered on Friday by air turbulence from large vehicles. A further closure from Sunday to Monday morning was due to a fault in the communication equipment between the tunnel and its control centre.
