Tees Barrage

The four year old Tees Barrage near Middlesbrough will be closely monitored after minor spalling of the concrete was found around seals on its 50t steel river gates. The spalling was caused by the abrasive action of the 50mm diameter rubber seals rubbing against concrete side piers as the four, 8m tall gates are raised or lowered.
