Technology workshop

Council heard a progress report on the 333,000 Technology support for civil engineering exports project which is 50% funded by the Department of the Environment, Transport & the Regions with other sponsorship from industry and professional bodies.

The final part of stage two is a plenary workshop to be held at Reading University on 5-6 March. The project began in September 1996 with a focus on:

Transport planning and infrastructure

Water and wastewater engineering

Coastal and river engineering

Infrastructure for urban development and megacities

Environmental improvement and sustainable development

The workshop will draw together the key issues for comment ready for the final report which will consist of a 250 page document to be disseminated over the Internet, a 20 page overview on paper and a four page key results folded A3 sheet.

Principal research contractor is Reading University and the first public presentation of the results will be the Unwin Lecture by Professor Roger Flanagan at Reading on 21 April at 6pm.
