Align JV brings in Bouygues heavyweight to lead HS2 bid

Furge, Jerôme

Align, the joint venture of Bouygues Travaux Publics, Sir Robert McAlpine and VolkerFitzpatrick, has announced Bouygues engineering department director Jérôme Furgé will head up its HS2 bid.

Align has recently been short shortlisted for the HS2 enabling works packages. It follows last week’s announcement from Balfour Beatty and Vinci that Peter Anderson is to lead its High Speed 2 joint venture.

Furgé has worked on projects including the Nimes-Montpellier Bypass high-speed rail project (CNM) in the South. He will relocate to the UK for the role.

He said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to bring the world’s most up-to-date high speed rail technology and project methodology to the UK. At Align, we are hopeful we can share our world-class best practice with HS2, and help the government leave a long-lasting, reliable and resilient legacy to the British people, for many generations”.

Furgé has been engineering department director at Bouygues TP for the past five years.

He will be attending CECA the HS2 Buyers’ Day in Birmingham early February.
