WSP to develop Halifax station masterplan

halifax rail station

WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff is to develop the materplan for the Halifax Station Gateway.

Work will involve a feasibility design and also appraisal of the business case for the remodelling of the station and the surrounding public areas. WSP will be working with architects BDP and C Spencer Ltd.

Alongside the regenerated station, the study will also look at road and pedestrian links to the town centre. There are a number of big developments afoot in Halifax, including Eureka! The National Children’s Museum and the multi-million pound refurbishment of Piece Hall.

Project director Adrian Kemp said: “We are able to draw on UK-wide expertise having worked on major station masterplans in York, London Bridge, Manchester, Newcastle and Stockport – which we also delivered in partnership with BDP.”

The client is Calderdale Council and the plan will be finalised in October.
