Engineers have completed the platforms and tracks at Abbey Wood station.

Network Rail has finished building the platforms and tracks at the new station, which will be complete in autumn this year. The ticket hall is part finished: the timber and steel roof structure is finished and a zinc cover is being assembled, while building is underway inside the hall.

Electric overhead equippment and signalling for new Elizabeth Line services is also being installed.

“The new station will provide an improved experience for the thousands of people who use the station every day,” said Crossrail surface director Matthew White.

Once complete, Abbey Wood station will have new platforms for an increase in services, a new concourse and step-free access to all platforms through six lifts.

Crossrail, which will be known as the Elizabeth Line, will start services in December 2018.
