Farrans JV wins £85M pipeline job

NCE stock water

United Utilities has awarded an £85M contract for the construction of a water pipeline in Cumbria to a joint venture between Farrans Construction and Roadbridge.

The job entails the design, construction and commissioning of around 32km of large diameter twin water mains and around 24 km of large diameter water mains in West Cumbria.

It is part of a wider £300M project, including a 100km pipeline, designed to ease pressure on environmentally sensitive local water sources. Water will be pumped from the Thirlmere reservoir. The larger project also includes a new water treatment works, two service reservoirs and a pumping station.
