TALK OF THE TOWN: New Civil Engineer's Communications Competition 1998 had a very close fought final in front of a lively audience on Monday night at the Association of Municipal Engineers' conference in Cardiff. Hampshire County Council County Surveyors Department carried off the much coveted title and £500 first prize from Ove Arup & Partners Yorkshire, which collect £300. Another Arup team from Newcastle upon Tyne secured the £200 third prize. The three teams beat off 55 others to reach the final. Full report in ICE News next week.
