Take charge of your destiny

Jobseekers will have an opportunity to meet some of the industry's leading names at The Construction Careers Event 2001.

The careers show follows the success of Careers in Construction in 1997, which helped put many professionals on the road to success with their current employers. The event will take place on 16 and 17 March at the Paragon Hotel in Earl's Court London. Exhibitors will include Railtrack, contractors Balfour Beatty, Birse, Fluor Danial and Norwest Holst, and consultants Maunsell, Gibb, Arup and Mott MacDonald.

This year's event will also include a two day seminar programme featuring presentations on continuing professional development and topics such as CV writing and interview techniques.

The 2001 Construction Careers Event comes at a good time for undergraduates expecting to finish their studies this summer and for experienced professionals looking for a move.

Workloads are on the up for most construction sectors and it seems civil engineers are needed everywhere.

Some exhibitors are looking to recruit as many as 200 engineers this year to fill positions in road, rail, water, commercial and industrial building and specialist areas such as piling and ground engineering.
