Surging growth at Waterman

Consultant Waterman reported a pre-tax profit of £4.2M on turnover of £83.7M last year, compared to £3.8M profit on £72.7M turnover in 2005.
It was optimistic about growing workload and improving profitability across all sectors, but particularly bullish about its prospects in civil, structural and environmental engineering.Civils revenue was up 10.1% on 2005, at £25.1M. The company is developing strong businesses in road and rail.Revenue for environmental engineering was up 3.8% on 2005, at £11.0M. Structures revenue was up an impressive 19.4% at £23.4M.The group's international workload surged ahead last year, accounting for £15.1M of total turnover. But profitability was a mere £600,000. This margin is expected to improve as Waterman consolidates its international operations.
