Sum thing to say

It was nice to be credited with full responsibility for the successful merger of UMIST and the Victoria University of Manchester (NCE last week).

However I cannot claim that accolade.

More precisely, I was the chairman of the Estates Master Plan subcommittee that developed the strategy for combining the estates of the two universities - a big job but not the only job.

There were lots of people doing other things to make the merger work, but the estates job did have 65% of the total budget to watch over - £250M of £380M - not a small sum!
