Sum of gun

The letters pages of NCE are always interesting, and I love the innocently amazed style letters pointing out errors, as in last week's issue - T5 truly amazing and the like.

So I look forward to comments about how efficient railway engineers have become, completing 100km of signalling and track-laying work in Holland for £900,000, and completing 1,300km of track renewals in three weekend possessions on the eastbound Piccadilly Line (NCE 11 March) But I doubt if they will be as memorable as one I saw 50 years ago, in 'RAF Flying Review' relating to an article about the Spitfire fighter plane:

In every land I thought I knew, Just what this aeroplane could do, But now - can I believe my eyes?

With a 6 inch gun it swept the skies!
