Subs hike will not stabilise numbers

Letters

So the ICE Council has made a bold decision to stabilise membership numbers by 2008 by a 30% hike in subscriptions (NCE last week). I would find it amusing if it wasn't for the fact that we are simply expected to pay these increased fees.

Has the ICE Council, even for one moment, considered that there might be a connection between people leaving the Institution and the fees members are expected to pay?

If this goes ahead, I will consider my own position.

There is an upper limit to what I am prepared to pay to have the letters MICE after my name, particularly as I can retain CEng through another institution.
