States share shake research


An $82M (£42M) earthquake simulation network was launched in the US last November with researchers from 10 states taking part.The University of California is among 15 sites receiving a £2.6M slice of the funding.The George E Brown Jr Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation will include research into ground shaking on buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure and use centrifuges, large-scale shake tables and a tsunami-simulation wave basin.
