Start date for work on new embedded retaining wall guidance announced

Construction standards organisation Ciria is to start work on updating guidance on the design of embedded retaining walls in May after securing funding from the ground engineering sector for the project.

Work to update the guidance will start on 9 May with a workshop aimed at developing the scope of the new C580 Embedded Retaining Walls document.

The existing C580 guidance was published in 2003 and has become the industry’s reference text for design but new techniques and greater understanding developed on recent major infrastructure projects means that the document needs to be updated in order for best practice to be shared across the sector.

Ciria is calling for consultants, contractors and infrastructure owners who are directly engaged in the design, construction and performance of embedded retaining walls to participate in the workshop.

To register your interest in participating, please send an email to C580 updateworkshop@ciria.org
