Sponsorship sought for next year

OPPORTUNITIES are being created for sponsoring Civils 2000 and Interbuild next year.

Exhibition organisers believe the shows' combined pulling power holds unprecedented potential for organisations wanting to reach audiences in the engineering and construction sectors.

'It is increasingly recognised that exhibitions are a good medium for talking to markets,' said Interbuild director Adrian Ford.

Until recently, sponsorship has been seen as the preserve of sports, but Ford added: 'The UK construction market is worth £60bn a year and employs 1.5M people. Firms need services.'

In the same way that world-class sports events attracted banks, insurers, computer companies, car manufacturers or mobile phone firms, Civils and Interbuild could be a platform for blue-chip companies, said Ford.

The Bank of Ireland, Sky Homes and Ford have all shown interest in getting involved in the shows.
