Speedy goes the distance for charity

Eight employees at construction equipment maker Speedy have raised more thanf £5,000 by completing this year’s London Marathon.

The staff ran in support of WellChild, while Speedy also sponsored the charity’s 140-strong marathon team.

Speedy head of project management office Lee Marston finished in three hours and seven seconds – but wasn’t satisfied.

“If I had been eight seconds faster I would have been under the three hour mark and I am kicking myself,” he said. “I can’t wait to sign up to the next marathon so I can raise even more money for WellChild and smash my personal best.”

Couple Chris Henderson, a customer service executive, and Christy Littler, a compliance service coordinator, trained and ran together.

Littler said: “At times the route was very challenging, but the whole experience has been hugely rewarding.”
