Letters

Mark Philpott's letter (NCE 4 October) says that I was disenfranchised when I sat my review, and this was why I am now indifferent to the ICE (NCE Debate, 27 September).

But it is the fact that nothing has happened in the last 13 years which has convinced me.

The feedback I got from both Fellows and Members to the article has been unanimous.

Nothing has changed!

I am sure there are people doing some good work to arrest the slide in membership but this is obviously not working.

Instead of trying to convince people to join, the ICE should be operating in a way that encourages them.

As most of the existing membership is only in it for what it gives them in terms of CV status, and their only positive contribution is in paying their fees, I wish you luck.

My starting point would be to look inward before looking out.

It is the analogy of the customer, who tells one person when they have a good time and 10 when they don't.

You need more existing members having good experiences! In my humble opinion.
